Periclase production

Development of the magnesite deposit in the Motyginsky district and construction of a mining and processing plant for the production of periclase and magnesia refractories in the amount of about 400 thousand tons per year. Periclase is used in metallurgy and for the production of crucibles, magnesia cements and fire-resistant concretes.

The demand for periclase is primarily from the metallurgical, energy and chemical industries.

Background:

• The total volume of magnesium oxide imports to Russia has been increasing for 5 years
• The volume of imports of magnesium oxide is almost twice the volume of exports, which indicates a shortage of the product in the domestic market.
• The largest sales market is the metallurgical industry (60% of the total volume). Magnesium oxide is used in metallurgy as a heat-resistant coating.
• Average prices for refractory materials in Russia have been trending upward for 5 years
