Segezha Group develops cooperation with regional scientific and educational organizations

A strategic session on the interaction of scientific and educational organizations of the Krasnoyarsk Territory with PJSC Segezha Group was held in Krasnoyarsk on the basis of the Siberian State University of Science and Technology named after Academician M.F. Reshetnev (Reshetnev University).
The event was attended by the heads of production areas of PJSC Segezha Group, heads of enterprises of the forestry industry of the region, representatives of the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation, experts of the Yenisei Siberia Research Center, the rector and heads of institutes and research laboratories of Reshetnev University. The session was moderated by the General Director of the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation Sergey Ladyzhenko.
Rector of Reshetnev University Edham Akbulatov addressed the participants of the strategic session with a welcoming speech: "It is very important for the university that the leading manufacturers in the field of wood processing are with us today. There is no need to talk about how promising the forestry industry is for our region. Back in Soviet times, it was said that every tenth tree in the country grows in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. I hope that this is still the case today. Our university purposefully works in research areas for the industry, trains personnel. I am sure that we will have many points of contact."
Sergey Ladyzhenko stressed that it is extremely important for the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation to ensure the effective implementation of investment projects in the territory of the macroregion: "We see that for the fifth year in a row there has been an investment breakthrough in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, largely due to the implementation of large investment projects in various fields in our region. Segezha Group is the undisputed leader in the forestry industry of the region. We hope that both current and prospective projects of the company will be actively developed and implemented. It is very important that the scientific and technological potential of our scientific complex is used by companies that do business in the region and plan to develop this business."
The main purpose of the meeting was the exchange of information on the needs of PJSC Segezha Group in new scientific developments, technologies for solving production problems in the context of import substitution, familiarization with the existing developments of the university and possible partnership in the interests of both sides.
According to Alexander Khreshchenko, First Vice President, Head of the Siberia Division of Segezha Group PJSC, this meeting is the first step for the holding's management to meet the competencies of the scientific community in search of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Identifying the needs of the company in the framework of the strategic session, the employees of Segezha Group placed special emphasis on the personnel shortage. At the moment, enterprises are experiencing a shortage of more than 1,623 people, including 800 skilled workers and specialists in key professions, education in which can be obtained in educational institutions of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The employees of the holding also presented the needs for developments in the fields of import substitution of logging and road equipment, forestry, and developments for the woodworking unit.
In turn, the Deputy vice-rector of Reshetnev University for Research and Development Pavel Kolesnikov presented to the guests the research work being carried out at the university, told about the activities of laboratories engaged in the problems of the forest complex, about the new R&D centers of the university, developing innovative activity in the most demanded economic spheres.
Deputy Vice-Rector of Reshetnev University for Research and Development Pavel Kolesnikov: "The problems that the university is investigating are largely consistent with the requests of the Segezha Group company. For example, we already have a ready-made technological solution for processing damaged wood. If we receive the initial data from the partner, we will be able to quickly prepare an effective working proposal."
Following the results of the event, a number of proposals were made on the organization of further joint activities, taking into account mutual interests and prospects. Thus, in the field of personnel support for enterprises, it is planned to organize student internships, conduct career guidance meetings, excursions to production, participation of experts from the enterprise in exams, involvement of specialists in the educational process as teachers, conducting advanced training courses, professional retraining for employees of the holding.
The University is planning to carry out development work in the interests of the company in such areas as import substitution (reengineering), remote sensing of the Earth, new functional wood materials, digitalization and automation of production, environmental safety and a number of other relevant research areas.
The participants of the strategic session stressed that combining scientific and industrial potential will lead to practical results, in which both science and business are interested today.
