Within the framework of the XI Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference, a panel session "Interregional cooperation in the space of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)" was held.
Within the framework of the event, representatives of the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation presented industrial and investment opportunities that the Krasnoyarsk Territory can offer to entrepreneurs of the Kyrgyz Republic and other EAEU member states.
Valery Semenov, Deputy Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech: "The Krasnoyarsk Territory is one of the largest, most dynamically developing and rich in natural resources regions of the Russian Federation. There are about one and a half thousand deposits and more than 80 types of minerals in the region. A significant part of the all-Russian volume of nickel, copper, aluminum, gold, and platinum group metals is mined in the territory of the region. The region is traditionally included in the top ten subjects of the Russian Federation, forming more than half of the total GRP of Russian regions. The development of cooperation with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union is an urgent issue for us. The EAEU states are strategic business partners of the region, and foreign trade turnover with these countries has shown positive dynamics in recent years. In 2023, the volume of mutual trade with the EAEU member states increased by one and a half times, and the volume of trade with the Kyrgyz Republic also showed positive dynamics at the end of last year."
The participants of the panel session discussed the use of mechanisms and tools to enhance interregional cooperation in the EAEU; the possibilities of the Portal of the Eurasian Economic Commission for Interregional Cooperation in the EAEU for business development; mechanisms for financing cooperative projects in the EAEU, as well as the implementation of investment projects in the regions of the EAEU countries.
Natalia Abramova, Deputy Director General and Head of the Directorate for Foreign Economic Affairs of the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation, noted that the purpose of building relations between the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Kyrgyz Republic is to develop not only trade relations, but also industrial cooperation – this will ensure closer economic cooperation between the two countries.
Natalia Abramova also spoke about the implementation of the Yenisei Siberia integrated investment project and presented the industrial and investment opportunities that the Krasnoyarsk Territory can offer to entrepreneurs of the Kyrgyz Republic and other EAEU member states. First of all, these are initiatives related to the development of the timber and agro-industrial complex, projects in the field of mining and metalworking. Among the promising areas for cooperation are the creation of logistics hubs, projects in the field of mechanical engineering, and the creation of tourist facilities. Special attention is paid to knowledge-intensive industries, that is, projects related to the creation of innovative industries. More information about the investment proposals of the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation can be found on the Investment Portal of the Krasnoyarsk Territory .
Mamasaly Akmatov, First Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Jalal-Abad region, in his speech recalled that Kyrgyzstan and Russia are strategic partners, and last year on the sidelines of the X Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference, a memorandum on the establishment of twinning relations between the Jalal-Abad region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory was signed. Mamasaly Akmatov also noted that within the framework of the cooperation agreements signed last year, work has already begun on the implementation of investment projects. For example, a coal deposit is being developed in Kyrgyzstan.
