The creation of the Central Eurasian Transport Corridor through Mongolia and Western China was the topic of the meeting of the delegations of the three regions. On the sidelines of the SPIEF, the heads of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia and Tuva discussed the prospects for creating a new international route.

20.06.2025

The transport corridor is a railway line from the village of Kuragino in the Krasnoyarsk Territory to the capital of Tuva, Kyzyl, and then through the Mongolian Khovd to the administrative center of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, Urumqi.

According to Pavel Smelov, General Director of the Center for Strategic Research, the primary task is to assess a promising cargo base and analyze the potential for growth in coal production and production until 2050, primarily in the regions of Siberia.

Following the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Tuva, Khakassia and the Center for Strategic Research Foundation.

The parties agreed to coordinate work on the formation of a technical justification for a strategically important project. All information will be shared with relevant federal ministries and interdepartmental working groups.

Based on the results of the review, a decision will be made on the construction of the Central Eurasian Transport Corridor. A positive conclusion on the creation of the route will serve as the basis for attracting investors to the project.
