A new turbine unit has been put into commercial operation at Krasnoyarsk TPP-1. This is the second turbine launched at the plant in a month. The equipment upgrade is part of a large–scale investment project by the Siberian Generating Company (SGC) to modernize CHPP-1. This initiative is part of the Yenisei Siberia CIP.

The new turbine unit No. 15 was put into commercial operation after comprehensive tests. For five days, the equipment operated under load in various modes. The specialists checked the stability of the turbine, the parameters of the main and auxiliary equipment, as well as its interaction with the current technological scheme of the plant. The tests showed that the equipment fully meets the technical requirements for generating facilities.

Sergey Borodulin, Director of Krasnoyarsk TPP-1: "The commissioning of the second new turbine unit in a month is an important stage in the comprehensive modernization of the plant. Both units are installed to replace equipment that has worked for more than 65 years and has reached its end of life. We are consistently replacing outdated capacities with modern domestic turbines with higher efficiency and improved operational and environmental characteristics. For Krasnoyarsk, this is primarily the additional reliability of one of the city's largest heat sources and more efficient operation of the station under increasing loads."

A total of 10 turbo generators have been installed at Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1. The upgrade of the generating equipment goes hand in hand with the large-scale environmental modernization of the plant. A new chimney with a height of 275 meters has already been built here to replace three old pipes, two boilers have been comprehensively replaced, and 15 modern electrostatic precipitators with a gas purification efficiency of over 99% have been commissioned. As a result of the large-scale modernization program of Krasnoyarsk CHPP—1, the total emissions of the plant were reduced by 20%, and particulate emissions by up to 80% compared to the level of 2017.
