Polymetal Mining Company is preparing to implement its first copper investment project in the Arctic zone of the Siberian Federal District — Polar Copper. In 2031, it is planned to launch a copper ore processing plant with a capacity of 3 million tons per year in the Turukhansky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
In accordance with the program "Development of metallurgical production in the Krasnoyarsk Territory for 2026-2028", the production capacity of the factory will be at least 200 thousand tons of copper-containing concentrate annually. The total investment is estimated at 60 billion rubles. The project is supported by the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation.
The deposits of Chernorechenskaya and Sukharikhinskaya areas will become the raw material base of Polar Copper. The reserves of the Graviyskoye copper ore deposit in Chernorechenskaya area are estimated at 243.4 thousand tons of copper and 242 tons of silver, and 102 thousand tons of copper are expected to be mined in Sukharinskaya area. The promising results of geological exploration allow us to consider the possibility of building a copper processing plant 30 km from the city of Igarka.
This year, the main task of the project is to create a transport infrastructure: the construction of an unpaved highway, the repair of a river pier and the construction of a bridge over the Gravika River to provide access to the Gravel section. The construction of the shift settlement is planned for 2027.
