The complex project "Southern Cluster"

The Southern Cluster is a complex of long–term projects aimed at increasing the number of industrial sites in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. During their implementation, new mining facilities will be built for the extraction of ore in the amount of 4 million tons. At the same time, the capacity of the Zapolyarnaya mine will be increased from 1.2 to 2 million tons. It also provides for the expansion and modernization of the tailings facilities of the Norilsk Enrichment Plant and the development of basic infrastructure. Production of the first ore is planned in 2021, and in 2028 the production capacity will reach 9 million tons. At the same time, the efficiency of the current processing of man-made raw materials of the tailings dam No. 1 will significantly increase.

Socio-economic effects of the project: maintaining and increasing the number of jobs in the Norilsk Industrial District; solving strategic tasks set by the President of the Russian Federation in the framework of Decree No. 204 of May 7, 2018, including the development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) and increasing cargo traffic along it to 80 million tons, as well as ensuring economic growth rates above the global ones.
