The second Kozinsky tunnel will be built on the stretch of the Krasnoyarsk highway Dzheb – Shchetinkino in the Kuraginsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. A positive conclusion on the project documentation was issued by the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia. The new facility will be built as part of the investment project "Increasing the capacity of the Artyshta – Mezhdurechensk – Taishet section", included in the Yenisei Siberia KIP.

12.02.2024

The stretch of the Krasnoyarsk highway Jeb – Shchetinkino is a difficult section of the highway in a mountainous area, called the "Jeb loop" because of the large elevation difference (more than 200 m). The railway track makes 16 sharp turns here, skirting the spurs of the Eastern Sayan.

The new engineering structure will be built parallel to the existing single–track Kozinsky tunnel, which is currently used to pass trains on the Mezhdurechensk - Taishet section. The length of the tunnel will be 1 km 370 m. Due to the increased hardness of the rocks, drilling and blasting will be carried out simultaneously from the western and eastern portals. Specialists will lay 1.7 km of new tracks on the approaches to the tunnel. To stretch them through the mountainous taiga area, 3 railway bridges will be built across the Koza and Malaya Koza rivers. To ensure the safety of train traffic, the western and eastern portals of the tunnel will be fenced with special parapets protecting against rockfalls.

The implementation of the project will eliminate the last bottleneck on the most difficult stretch of the Mezhdurechensk – Taishet highway from the Dzheb station to the Shchetinkino station. As a result, it will become completely double-track.

It is planned to start work in the second quarter of 2024, and to complete them and open train traffic through the second Kozinsky tunnel in 2026.
