In Sayany, work continues on the construction of a 267 m long rotary tunnel on the Koshurnikovo – 570 km single–track stretch of the Mezhdurechensk -Taishet line. The engineering structure is being built as part of the investment project "Increasing the capacity of the Artyshta – Mezhdurechensk – Taishet section", included in the Yenisei Siberia KIP.

12.08.2024

The new tunnel is the largest part of the project for the construction of second tracks on the Koshurnikovo – 570 km section (Kuraginsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory), it is being built parallel to the existing single–track tunnel, through which trains are now passing.

Head of the Krasnoyarsk Railway Alexey Tumanin: "The southern highway Mezhdurechensk – Taishet is the main artery for the export of goods from Kuzbass, Khakassia, Krasnoyarsk Territory and Tyva. The length of the line on which we need to grow in terms of throughput and carrying capacity is almost 1000 km. At the beginning of the reconstruction, more than 550 km were single-track. At the moment, 265 km of new second tracks have been built here. The work is being carried out in stages, according to the approved parameters for the modernization of the Eastern landfill of the Transsib and BAM. The new First Jabe Tunnel is another complex infrastructure facility. In December 2023, its sinking was completed, and in 6 months of 2024, it was ready to 75%."

Now a path is being laid in the tunnel, and its slopes are reinforced with avalanche barriers, which will prevent snow masses from sliding in winter. 450 people and 50 pieces of equipment are involved in the work.

Earlier, the builders had already installed the waterproofing of the tunnel, which is a closed waterproof contour with an area of 8750 m2; they performed its permanent lining, using 8 thousand m3 of concrete, and carried out engineering communications.

The final stage will be the laying of 4.2 km of second tracks on the entire Koshurnikovo stretch – 570 km. Upon its completion, double-track train traffic will open here in 2025.
