Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov took part in the opening ceremony of the Vysokogorsky Bridge across the Yenisei via videoconference.
Vladimir Putin and Mikhail Kotyukov launched the movement at the ferry and thanked the builders for erecting such a significant and long-awaited facility for residents of the northern territories of the region.
Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation: "This is the northernmost bridge across the Yenisei, and with its opening, year-round communication will be established with the North Yenisei district, with one of the largest centers of our gold mining industry. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the implementation of this project – engineers, designers, builders, and wish you further success."
The President spoke with the head of the Mostostroy-11 construction company, Nikolai Russu. The bridge builder noted the uniqueness of the facility: "The bridge was one of the most difficult for us: it has a rocky bottom, a fast current, and a flood twice a year with a water rise of more than 6 meters, it is also a unique farm, which was first installed on the territory of Russia. Nevertheless, by good tradition, the facility was completed ahead of schedule."
Mikhail Kotyukov, Head of the Krasnoyarsk Territory:
"In fact, the bridge opens a year-round path to the right bank of the Angara-Yenisei macroregion with huge reserves of minerals and a rich forest resource base. The most important thing is that residents of the right bank areas will now have year–round communication with developed infrastructure. It was almost impossible to get to this point four months a year during the high water period. This will also give development to small businesses: entrepreneurs will be able to quickly move from one shore to the other, deliver the necessary goods and services. The bridge will have a positive social and economic effect."
The Vysokogorsky Bridge, the seventh crossing over the Yenisei, will allow for reliable year–round transport links between the central and northern regions of the region. The builders built the facility ahead of schedule and delivered it ahead of schedule, in total it took 36 months to build. The opening of the bridge is a long–awaited event for the residents of these territories: there will no longer be an urgent need to use the ferry in summer and the ice crossing in winter.
In addition, the commissioning of the facility will have a great impact on the economic development of the North Yenisei region and the region as a whole. The bridge will create conditions for the implementation of investment projects that are being implemented in the Angara-Yenisei Economic District, create new jobs, increase tax revenues, and help improve people's quality of life.
